John Aucoin

Long time Inverness Park resident John Aucoin has for the last 10 years been developing his unique take on scrap metal. Starting out in West Marin in 1974 ‘Fishin John” spent 18 years fishing commercially before turning to the earth and operating Coyote Landscaping for the last 15 years.

A lifelong drawer, John combined his welding knowledge , a few art classes and a unique way of looking at his surroundings into his recycled metal garden art caricatures with a sense of humor but with both a simplicity and dignity that honors both the material and the subject.

John gets most of his raw materials right in West Marin. Cast offs from local ranches, businesses, car parts and even dumpster finds all find there way into Johns work.

John wrapped up a successful one man show at Toby’s Gallery in May and will be showing some of his work at the KWMR Far West Fest at Love Field this September.
